Double Decker!
I have been invited to participate in the Double Decker Arts Festival in Oxford MS, April the 26th. I'm really kicking off my business with a bang!
I have a lot of art to make and a lot to plan but couldn't be happier!
Catch Up
My senior BFA Thesis was a total success! Thank you everyone who came and supported me, it's one of the hardest, most fun things I've gotten to do. Months and months of planning and working, along with 3 studio classes, payed off. I graduated with a BFA with an emphasis in Graphic Design and was hired by Vaughn Design (Check out the new site!!!!) as a graphic designer. It could not have been more perfect/amazing, I'm doing what I actually went to school for and absolutely love.
In my three last classes I took Intermediate Sculpture, Intaglio Printmaking, and Ceramics. I got to weld and pour metal in my sculpture class - frightening but I've never done anything cooler. So much fire and molten iron/bronze/aluminum. Just to show a little glimpse of what I did.

Ready for the iron pour! |
Can't say that I enjoyed Intaglio more than Relief but it still was fun. Most I carved into metal or plexiglass, rubbed ink into the carved grooves, wiped off the excess ink, and ran it through the press.
Ceramics was such a challenge for me!!! These were a few of my beginning works.
Overall, I had a great finish to my senior year.
Through Vaughn Design, I got to collaborate and create the new Ole Miss Fishing Team's logo! They were so excited and loved it! Just a little sneak at the things I get to work on at my new job.
Seriously, yall need to check out the website incase you haven't yet Vaughn Design!
I'm currently designing my own new website where I will be able to sell my work!
Keep an eye out, I'm sure I'll have it all over my facebook soon!

And to add to that, I can't believe I have 3 weeks left of my junior year. Can not believe. I feel like I just got here! This time next year I'll be looking at job or masters options. Unreal, I don't feel that old.
But I'm so thankful. There are so many things I'm unsure of in life but I have no doubts when it comes to art. It has given me goals, drive, options, and I love it.
I'm really enjoying letterpress too. It's almost a relaxing, meditative process (when you're not doing it till 3 in the morning). Thankfully these were no where that painful. The quote is one of my favorites by Henry David Thoreau "Live the life you have imagined." They are greeting cards and I may also use them as invitations to view my work. Oh! And my work will be hung in the University of Mississippi's Student Union tomorrow!!!!! Supposedly everyone who was printing them loved them and wanted a print! Already awesome reviews, woohoo!
Addition ***
I got to take a break from painting for a grade! How nice, freedom! -- Well as much freedom as acrylic paint gives -- I surprised the teacher, who had us all painting flowers, when she walked around and saw mine... But she offered me a summer job so she must not have been too insulted!
Nope, I'm not going to comment on my self portrait. I want your mind to wander, why would I feed you the answers? Oh and anyone can leave a comment btw lol! I have so many people tell me they checked out my blog -- so tell me on here! =D
Goodbye Cat Scratch
I have decided to remove all of my "Cat Scratch Design" branding. I want to focus more on ME and MY portfolio. So now everything is "Brotton Yerger's Portfolio" and instead of sounding like a business, I am the business =]

Just have the feet to finish! The colors are actually rose, blue, and lime green... no orange lol! Cameras. But either way I'm loving it already!
Enjoying Summer
Not much to say here... Been practicing some watercolor and will be taking classes with Mark starting next week. I'm really excited to learn more techniques and maybe I can sell a few more coolers (hint hint) and buy some quality watercolor paint! That'd be amazing haha!

Paws for Magic
My final for photoimaging!!! This project gave me a new meaning for the word forever.
Everything was hand drawn in either Photoshop or Illustrator and the animation was done in Photoshop.
